After being appointed as Minister of agriculture in June 1933, Richard Darre established the Reichsnahrstand (RNS) - The Reich Food Estate, which was empowered to intervene and regulate agriculture. The RNS was responsible for prices and production quotas, regulated the quality of farm produce, and set retailers' profit margins.
